When the worlds of fine arts and burlesque meet, there is only one way to describe it: poetry in motion. And leave it to some of the Berkshire’s most creative souls to find a way to mix the two (on Sunday, October 2 from 6:30 to 9:00 PM) for a night of unprecedented pleasure, fun, talent and beauty, as Burlesque for Books holds it’s one and only fall event on top of Mount Greylock at the gorgeous Bascom Lodge. On that nippy Fall evening there will be more than a crackling fireplace to keep you warm.

Burlesque for Books’ Marc Zegans and Miss Karen Lee have gathered together a coterie of exceptional talent for an evening of music, poetry, dance, laughter and intimacy.

Music

Sure to turn on your mind, body and soul “Burlesque, Books and Bascom Lodge” will feature music of an all star band with Kristen Gray and Michael Raye of SoulRaye and Kali Babba McConnell. Between them they have worked with some of the most famous and talented singer songwriters of the 20th and 21st century including Iggy Pop, Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, Gloria Gaynor Arlo Guthrie, Willie Nelson, and The Allman Brothers to name but a few.

Poetry

Alternating the stillness of poetry will be the bawdy, burly, lusty burlesque performances of four talented dancers; the evening will be an intimate journey into your senses in a beautiful and unique setting. Narragansett Beer’s Poet Laureate Marc Zegans and Lenox based poet, Nichole C Dupont will seduce you with words that delve deep into your soul, taking you to your most intimate places and exposing your inner world.

Berkshire Burlesque

The luscious burlesque troupe starring the Karendipitous Madame K, and Miss Cody Dallaire and Miss Scarlett Deville of Gypsy Layne, as well as the delectable Ms B Haviour, will tease and please as they bring new meaning to “falling leaves”.

These brave Burlesque dancers will chance the chill airs atop Mount Greylock in an evening of peak poetic and musical experiences mixed with their own sultry gyrations and entwined with the music and movement of our trio of musicians, and the spinning discs of DJ Alan Wrench.

Marc Zegans says: “the evening is designed to be fun and seductive, an adventure beneath the skin, exploring and exposing our most secret parts in a exceptionally beautiful setting – what better way to spend a fall evening”.

Karen Lee says, “Purrrrfect poetry, in the most pleasing place, and sprites who delight, all for your pleasure this magic fall night.”
