From our Preview Desk: New Stage Performing Arts Center celebrates Thanksgiving weekend with a change of pace, a show called “Known Unknowns” on Saturday night, November 26, at 8 pm. “Known Unknowns” is New Stage’s original spin on the pub quiz, mixing together elements of trivia competitions, sketch comedy, and talk shows into a unique live comedy experience.
Hosted by writer and comedian, Ben Elliott, who has performed in both Chicago and New York, this month’s theme is “Broadway.”
Robert Allen and Rebecca Sellon will aid Elliott in the scenes and sketches that make up the clues. Prizes and laughter will be the night’s reward.
Questions like “What is the Phantom of the Opera’s first name? How many people make up a chorus line? Why would Willy Loman call his children silly names like Biff and Happy?” will be the type of questions asked at “Known Unknowns.”
Elliott invites the audience to “compete in a team or by oneself, test one’s luck on stage with one’s very own wheel of fortune, or just sit back and watch a series of questions, sketches, improvisational dances, and terrible, terrible impersonations.”
Nicki Wilson, the Artistic Director, says, “I am thrilled that we are hosting another live comedy quiz show. The last one we had with Ben was so much fun, I’ve been wanting to repeat it as soon as we could.”
Tickets are $5 per person, $20 for a group of five. There will be a Cash bar. 21+ only. New Stage Performing Arts Center is located at 55 North Street, Pittsfield. For more info call: (413) 418-0999 or go to the website at newstageperformingarts.org
