Broadway and screen vet Anthony Rapp wrote and stars in this solo show based on his best-selling memoir, backed by a live five-piece rock band and featuring both original tunes and songs from R.E.M. and Rent.

Best known for his breakthrough role of Mark Cohen in that smash play and film, Rapp explores the early days of that musical, which famously went on despite creator Jonathan Larson’s death, and tragically coincided with the passing of his own mother. Rapp’s trip through his crushing grief to find hope and triumph on the other side is the focus of this heartfelt one-man musical.

The show, at the historic Modern Theatre at 525 Washington Street in downtown Boston only plays June 19-24, and you can access some nicely discounted tickets. Click me
