Betrayal

Harold Pinter was one of the twentieth century’s greatest and most influential playwrights. The winner of the Nobel Prize, he was honored with numerous other accolades, including France’s Légion d’Honneur and Britains Laurence Olivier Award. His play Betrayal, considered among his best and inspired by his own life, tells the story of Emma and Jerry. For seven years they engage in a passionate love affair, deceiving their spouses, each other and, at times, even themselves. It explores the complexities of love, guilt and duplicity, and was the 1979 Olivier Award winner for Best New Play. Save on tickets – Click me

A Bright New Boise

The Rapture is coming — to a parking lot in Idaho. At least that’s what Will, the central character of Samuel D. Hunter’s prophetically funny play A Bright New Boise, has convinced himself. A piously religious man, Will has recently moved from his small hometown and the bitter scandal that had enveloped his evangelical church. As he tries to establish himself in Boise, Will finds himself working and searching among other minimum-wage employees at the Hobby Lobby, a big-box crafts store. Will tries to reconcile his ongoing mission for spiritual salvation with the superficial, secular and often profane world around him. A Bright New Boise launches Zeitgeist Stage Company’s 2012/2013 season with a humorous look at the search for meaning. The play recently garnered a 2011 Drama Desk Nomination for Best Play. Now or Later

A 2008 Pulitzer Prize finalist for his play Dying City, Christopher Shinn sets his political drama on the night of a U.S. Presidential election. A scandal has suddenly erupted over recently-revealed photos of the candidate’s son. As a form of protest, he’d dressed up like a controversial religious figure at a college party. Now the pictures are spreading like wildfire on the internet, sparking a huge debate. The show makes its U.S. premiere in Boston after its debut run at London’s prestigious Royal Court, directed by Broadway’s Michael Wilson. Save on tickets – Click me
