The Oscar Party at Images Cinema is a must-do event for lots of film fans who hold strong opinions – pro and con – about the crop of films selected for Academy Award nominations. So there’s a lot of fun in cheering and groaning about the choices made as each is announced on the big screen.

This year’s festive gathering will be taking place in the cinema on Sunday, 2/24 starting at 7pm.

It’s a chance to not only watch the Oscar Ceremony on the big screen, but to celebrate the year in movies with discerning, like-minded cinéastes. The night will be emceed by Eric Kerns. Creative mixologist Brent Heeringa will be making designer cocktails in the rear of the theater (Drinkin’ with Lincoln!). Ruby Sparks will provide red carpet commentary on what all the stars are wearing.

Taste buds will come alive with tastings of artisanal cheese from our own fabulous Cricket Creek Farm. Enter the “Pick the Winner” contest for a chance to win a year of free movies at Images Cinema. Prizes will be given to the best dressed, so dress to impress! The event is free to attend; cash bar. Images Cinema is located at 50 Spring Street, Williamstown, MA. “This will be a fun party, and there might even be some surprise performances!” said Anna Moriarty-Lev, Membership and Operations Coordinator at Images Cinema.

Images Cinema will also use event as an opportunity to recognize the good work by its volunteers, and give out awards of their own.

The Oscar Party is also a chance to raise some money for the operation. The Pick-the-Winner contest allows entrants to predict who will win Oscars in the most categories, for a chance to win a year of free movies at Images Cinema. Ballots are $10 each, three for $25. Ballots must be turned in before the first winner is announced to be eligible.

There’s also a raffle offering great prizes provided by local businesses. Raffle tickets are $5 each, 3 for $12.
