You’ll find some of the finest pickin’ and grinnin’ anywhere in the country right here in the Berkshires on September 24 and 25 as North Adams’ Mass MoCA Museum presents some of today’s most exciting young bluegrass artists —- along with one of the genre’s living legends —- in their indoor Hunter Center and outdoor Courtyard C. They are calling it, “Fresh Grass” and it’s a good description.

Mass MoCA will also schedule pop-up performances in the galleries in their first ever bluegrass festival. Ticket prices include gallery admission.
The festival kicks off on Saturday with a short outdoor acoustic set by Dave Mayfield, during the reception for our new expansion called, The Speed Way, an outdoor extension of the MASS MoCA campus including three new works of art, and 1.5 acres of “asphalt meadow” landscaping. The festival will then pick ups at full speed at 7pm in Courtyard C with Sarah Jarosz then moves indoors to the Hunter Theater at 8:30pm.
Saturday, September 24, 6:00 PM
The Infamous Stringdusters
The Hackensaw Boys
Sunday September 25, 11:00 AM
Yonder Mountain String Band
Aoife O’Donovan (of Crooked Still)
Special things to note:
Tickets are priced at $68 Festival Pass / $50 Student / $30 Kids (6-12). A limited number of day passes may become available closer to the performance.
Saturday evening’s events will be in the Hunter Center. Sunday events are planned for Courtyard C but will be moved inside in case of rain. Capacity is limited. Bluegrass is very popular in the Northern Berkshires. To avoid being disappointed, we suggest you buy in advance. All performances can move indoors in case of rain.
If you buy online tickets.com will show the event as being on Sunday only. This is a snafu with the system which they are working to correct. If you buy a festival pass it is good for all events on Saturday and Sunday. If you want to be certain you can always call our box office at 413 662 2111 x1.
