Sheffield, MA: – The Cantilena Chamber Choir and the Mt. Everett High School Choir & Madrigal Singers will present a concert of Monteverdi Madrigals on Friday, February 15th, 7:00 pm (changed from 7:30) at the Thomas Consolati Performing Arts Center, Mt. Everett High School in Sheffield, MA.
The concert is a culmination of a choral workshop on Monteverdi that occurs at the school during the week of February 11th with participants from all ensembles. The students will rehearse and perform with the Cantilena Chamber Choir under the direction of Andrea Goodman, and perform a few Madrigals under their director Chris Clark. Also on the program will be the Fire Songs of contemporary composer Morten Lauridsen, love songs with texts from Italian Renaissance poetry frequently set by Monteverdi and other composers of the time, and written in the musical style of the renaissance.
The concert is given through generous grants by the Local grants program of the Massachusetts cultural council in Sheffield, Alford-Egremont, New Marlborough and Monterey. Donations will also be accepted at the door before the performance. For more information visit www.cantilenachoir.org, or contact firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. Mt.
