½ TIX opens half price booths in Pittsfield, Lenox, North Adams and Great Barrington

boshalftix2013

For many Berkshire residents – and thrifty visitors – the half-price ticket program is what enables them to see a lot of our areas most talked about events on stage, even with a limited budget for live entertainment.

Barrington Stage Company and the Berkshire Visitors Bureau are joining together again to offer ½ TIX in 2015, a program administered through a partnership between the two organizations. Now celebrating its 14th year, the ½ TIX program offers half-priced tickets to residents and visitors in the Berkshire community. Patrons can buy same-day half-priced tickets to cultural events at four area ½ TIX Booths beginning June 13 through September 6, 2015.

The cultural venues participating in the 2015 ½ TIX Program are: Barrington Stage Company, Berkshire Choral Festival, Berkshire Theatre Group, The Capitol Steps at Cranwell Resort, Mac-Haydn Theatre, Shakespeare & Company, Tanglewood, The Theater Barn, and Williamstown Theatre Festival.

½ TIX are sold at four convenient locations throughout the Berkshires: Barrington Stage Company Box Office (30 Union Street, Pittsfield), Lenox Visitors Center (at the Lenox Library, 18 Main St., Lenox), MASS MoCA (87 Marshall Street, North Adams) and Triplex Cinema (70 Railroad Street, Great Barrington).

The four ½ TIX booths will operate from June 13 through September 6, 2015, Tuesday through Sunday from 12noon until 4:30pm. (Closed Mondays with ticket sales for Mondays sold on Sundays). Patrons seeking information about daily performance availability and general ½ TIX information should call the ½ TIX Hotline at 413-743-1339 or visit http://www.berkshires.org – updated daily by 11am. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and all transactions are cash only. There is an additional $3.00 handling charge per ticket. All tickets are subject to availability and all participants are subject to change.

The people who use 1/2 Tix are amazing. They know when it opens, when it closes, and use it as a one-stop shopping center for all the arts. People who love the arts but can’t afford full price will go, and gamble on getting their first, or second or third choice. They may go in looking for something at Barrington Stage and find it is sold out, and end up seeing a cutting edge play, dance at Jacob’s Pillow or even music at Tanglewood.” – Julianne Boyd, Barrington Stage Company

About Barrington Stage Company

Barrington Stage Company, a professional award-winning Equity regional theatre located in the heart of the Berkshires, in Pittsfield, MA, was co-founded in 1995 by Artistic Director Julianne Boyd. Barrington Stage’s mission is three-fold: to present top-notch, compelling work; to develop new plays and musicals; and to find fresh, bold ways to bringing new audiences into the theatre—especially young people. Barrington Stage garnered national attention in 2004 when it premiered William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin’s musical hit The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which later transferred to Broadway, where it won two Tony Awards. In 2009/2010 Barrington Stage produced the world premiere of Mark St. Germain’s Freud’s Last Session, which later moved Off-Broadway and played for two years. St. Germain’s Becoming Dr. Ruth (which premiered at BSC as Dr. Ruth, All the Way in 2012) played Off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre in fall 2013. BSC’s all-time record-breaking musical, On the Town, originally presented in 2013, is currently on Broadway with BSC as a co-producer. Barrington Stage was voted “Best Live Theatre” by The Berkshire Eagle, was named “Best Theatre Company” in Metroland’s Best of the Capital Region, and Best Summer Theater in New England by Yankee Magazine.
