After a two year hiatus, the Clark Art Institute will rejoin the Mahaiwe in Great Barrington and the Beacon in Pitisfield in providing the Metropolitan Opera’s live opera performances in HD in its theatre. The Clark Art Institute will welcome opera lovers to its newly renovated, state-of-the-art auditorium, scheduled to open in November.
Once again we can look forward to the world’s leading artists on local screens delivered with state of the art visuals and sound via The Met Live in HD. These transmissions have changed the world of opera since what was once local now reaches 70 countries on six continents, as well as 750 theaters in the United States.
However, while the season telecasts will begin for the rest of the world in October, the Clark will pick up the encore performances and eventually sync their showings as the theatre is reopened.
Tickets for eight live transmissions and four encore performances go on sale to the public Monday, July 20; performances begin Saturday, November 19. Tickets are $25 per performance ($22 members; $18 students). To order tickets, visit clarkart.edu or call 413 458 0524.
