Berkshire Theatre Group and Artistic Director/CEO, Kate Maguire welcomes the World Premiere of The Stone Witch, featuring Tony, Golden Globe, Emmy and Obie Award-winning Judd Hirsch.

It’s an interesting tale. Peter, an aspiring children’s book author, is sent to the cabin of his idol, Simon, a reclusive award-winning author and illustrator of children’s books, to help him finish what might be his last book. Desperate to save his own career, Peter hopes to discover the secret of Simon’s genius, but first he must accept the impossible task: helping Simon confront the monsters that populate the woods inside his mind. This darkly humorous play makes us question the cost of success.

Written by Pen/USA Award-winning playwright Shem Bitterman (Harm’s Way, Open House, Influence; Film: Whitney, The Job) and directed by Drama Desk and Humanities Award-winning director Steve Zuckerman (Broadway: Nuts; TV: Everybody Loves Raymond; Film: Israel Horovitz’s North Shore Fish), this production is produced in association with Darlene Kaplan Entertainment and Brierpatch Productions. The Stone Witch runs from July 21 through August 20, 2016, at The Fitzpatrick Main Stage in Stockbridge, MA.

BTG’s Artistic Director/CEO, Kate Maguire says, “We are elated to have the great actor Judd Hirsch join us this summer in this stirring World Premiere. Our audiences have most recently seen Judd on CBS’ hit series The Big Bang Theory, as well as in Independence Day: Resurgence, and they can now see him live on The Fitzpatrick Main Stage.”

Producer Darlene Kaplan adds, “Darlene Kaplan Entertainment and Brierpatch Productions are thrilled to be presenting the World Premiere of the Stone Witch at the historic Berkshire Theatre Group and are planning on transferring it to New York for the 2016/2017 season.”

This cast also features Rupak Ginn (TV: Royal Pains; Film: Friends with Benefits, The Namesake) and Drama Desk Award-nominated actress, Kristin Griffith (Broadway: A Texas Trilogy: Lu Ann Hampton Laverty Oberlander; Film: Interiors).

Tickets may be purchased in person at the Colonial Ticket Office at 111 South Street, Pittsfield; at the Fitzpatrick Main Stage Ticket Office at 83 East Main Street, Stockbridge; by calling (413) 997-4444 or online at www.BerkshireTheatreGroup.org.
