“Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh! The Allan Sherman Musical”
Takes the Stage at The Theater Barn
Allan Sherman captured the country’s imagination when he transformed a piece of classical music – Ponchielli’s Dance of the Hours – into a humorously woeful letter home from Camp Granada. Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh! became a number one song in the country for 10 weeks following its release and its author won the 1963 Grammy for Best Comedy Performance. This musical features over 25 Allan Sherman songs telling the lifelong love story of Barry and Sarah Jackman including many of their eccentric family.
Conceived and written by Douglass Bernstein and Rob Krauz, this delightfully hysterical musical is sure to remind many of music from their past while leaving you laughing in the aisles. There are tons – yes Mrs. Goldfarb, tons – of characters telling the story with “chutzpah” as costumes fly and sets swirl from Barry’s birth and brisk till his golden years in Miami Beach. It opens at The Theater Barn on Route 20 in New Lebanon, NY on Thursday August 11, 2016 for a two week run through August 21, 2016.
Returning to The Theater Barn, director Allen Phelps (Evita, Veronica’s Room) has assembled a talented cast of performers in Ricky Gee, (returning from Plaid-land), local favorite and Barn alumni, Amy Fiebke, with newcomers Jared Sigler, Patti DeMatteo, and Nolan Burke. Returning as musical director from his critically acclaimed work in Forever Plaid is Matthew Russell.
