Boyd takes over helm of “Broadway Bounty Hunter” – musical to open as planned

Barrington Stage Company (BSC) announced today that due to creative differences, Leah C. Gardiner has parted ways with Broadway Bounty Hunter. Julianne Boyd, Artistic Director of Barrington Stage Company, has stepped in to handle direction for the musical’s world premiere. The first preview on Friday, August 12 has been cancelled. Broadway Bounty Hunter will now begin performances Saturday, August 13, and will run through Sunday, September 4, 2016. Opening night is August 19 at 7:30pm.

Founded in 2006, the BSC Musical Theatre Lab is overseen by Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Artistic Producer William Finn.

Under the leadership of Julianne Boyd, Broadway Bounty Hunter will continue essentially unchanged. The hot new musical features music and lyrics by Joe Iconis (Be More Chill, The Black Suits, Bloodsong of Love), book by Joe Iconis, Lance Rubin (author of Denton Little’s Deathdate)and Jason SweetTooth Williams (Off Broadway: Once Upon A Mattress), and choreography by Jeffrey Page (Broadway’s Violet). Joel Waggoner (BSC’s Presto Change-O, Southern Comfort) serves as music director.

Broadway Bounty Hunter stars SAG Award-winner Annie Golden (TV’s Orange is the New Black, Broadway’s Violet, The Full Monty) as “Annie,” Broadway veteran Jeff McCarthy (Broadway’s Urinetown; BSC’s Man of La Mancha) as “Mac Roundtree,” and features Alan H. Green (Broadway: School of Rock, BSC’s Romance in Hard Times) and Scott Watanabe (Broadway’s Allegiance), along with Badia Farha, Kourtney Keitt, Anastacia McCleskey, Jamie Patterson, Porsha Putney, George Salazar, Shannon Tyo, and Jason Veasey.

The production features sets by Timothy Mackabee, lights by Eric Southern, costumes by Bobby Frederick Tilley, and sound by Josh Millican. Music supervision and orchestrations are by Charlie Rosen. Production stage manager is E. Sara Barnes.

Broadway Bounty Hunter was developed at the Weston Playhouse Artists’ Retreat, the Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, the Johnny Mercer Writers’ Colony at Goodspeed Musicals, and Cap21.

The performance schedule for Broadway Bounty Hunter is as a follows: Tuesday – Saturday evenings at 7:30pm, and Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 3pm. Exceptions: there is no 3pm performance on Saturday, August 13, and no 3pm performance on Thursday, August 18. Tickets: $20-$46.
