Baseball comedy “Double Play” to open new season at HRC Showcase Theatre in Hudson

HRC Showcase Theatre, the premier theatre company in the Hudson River Valley, dedicated to staged readings of new plays, will open its 26th season on Saturday, October 15, 2016 with Double Play, a fast-paced comedy by Dennis Danziger. Set in front of Yankee Stadium two loners—she a Yankee fanatic, he a grad student researching the pathetic lives of sports fans—meet and fall in love. After three decades of marriage, as the recession and the demolition of Yankee Stadium threaten to destroy everything they’ve worked for, they meet again on the same spot and struggle to save all they hold dear.

HRC Showcase Theatre’s Artistic Director, Barbara Waldinger, will lead a cast of professional actors that includes Lora Lee Ecobelli, Richard Herron, Kate Hettesheimer, and Giovanni Pucci.
Double Play will be performed on Saturday, October 15, at 7:30 pm in the auditorium of the First Reformed Church, located at 52 Green Street in Hudson, NY. The performance will be followed by a reception, with snacks and beverages, and a talkback session with the playwright, actors, and artistic director. Admission is $15. For reservations, please phone 518-851-2061.

These programs are made possible (in part) with public funds from the Decentralization Program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, administered through the Community Arts Grants Fund in Columbia County by the Greene County Council on the Arts.
