Berkshire Theatre Group welcomes Pittsfield CityJazz Festival, featuring The Karrin Allyson Trio and the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors to The Colonial Theatre on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 7:30pm.
Tickets are $20 and $35. Contact the Colonial Ticket Office at 111 South Street, Pittsfield by calling 413-997-4444, or online at www.berkshiretheatregroup.org. Ticket Offices are open Monday-Friday 10am-5pm, Saturdays 10am-2pm or on any performance day from 10am until curtain.
Music lovers and critics around the world have been marveling at the range of vocalist, Karrin Allyson. Allyson is an extraordinary musician, who moves with ease and authority, from the Great American Songbook of Gershwin and Porter to the Great American Jazzbook. Her trio appears with America’s Big Band, the U.S. Army’s 19-piece Jazz Ambassadors, who have received worldwide acclaim performing America’s original art form. The evening will also feature the Berkshires Jazz Youth Ensemble, in residence at Herberg Middle School in Pittsfield, MA.
The Festival itself runs Oct. 7-16, 2016 throughout the city. The wide-ranging lineup is headlined by the Scott Robinson Quartet, the Karrin Allyson Trio, and the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors Big Band, plus the annual “jazz crawl;” a new discovery in the organization’s Jazz Prodigy series, and a new exhibit of jazz photography.
Most of the festival’s events are free, thanks to underwriting support from The Feigenbaum Foundation, North Coast Brewing Co., TD Charitable Foundation, Greylock Federal Credit Union, Berkshire Bank, the Crowne Plaza, and jazz advocate and educator Brent Banulis.
Things kick off on Columbus Day weekend, Oct. 7-9, with Jazz About Town, the annual jazz crawl featuring local musicians in restaurants and lounges throughout Pittsfield’s Upstreet Cultural District. Dates, details, and locations will be updated soon.
