“Spring Awakening” the musical destined for Berkshires this summer


Harrison Lang, in cooperation with The Barn at The Egremont Village Inn, is preparing auditions the first week in January for the Berkshire premiere of the Broadway musical Spring Awakening, presented through Creative Berkshire Productions, a non-profit organization. Performances are scheduled from June 21-25, 2017.

Winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Spring Awakening explores the journey from adolescence to adulthood through an illuminating and poignant book and score, by Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, respectively. It is a thrilling blend of morality, sexuality, and rock and roll that has been rousing audiences across the nation for years.

Auditions will be held Thursday January 5 and Friday January 6, 2017, from 3-6pm with callbacks taking place on Saturday January 7, from 12-4pm.

Those trying out are asked to prepare a 32 bar cut of both an uptempo/rock song and a ballad, in the appropriate key. An accompanist will be provided so please no a cappella auditions. Bring an up to date resume and headshot.

17 Main St. South Egremont, MA 01258.

Due to the mature themes and explicit language of the show, all actors auditioning must be 17 years of age or older.

    • To be accurate, Sharon is not in Berkshire County, but rather in Litchfield County, Connecticut, in the northwest corner of the state. It is bounded on the north by Salisbury, on the east by the Housatonic River, on the south by Kent, and on the west by Dutchess County, New York.
