by Clare Boothe Luce

Written in 1936, The Women is a classic icon of the era-fashionable, funny and dark. When Mary Haines finds out that her husband is keeping a mistress, the younger more beautiful Crystal, she begins to learn what it’s like to stand up for herself. In a climate clouded by the rules, gossip, and artifice of Manhattan’s high society, Mary and her companions search for love, friendship, and truth. Through fast-paced dialogue, cutting humor, and timeless wisdom the play exposes the simultaneously ugly and beautiful condition of womanhood.
