Confetti Stage Announces Auditions for “Tales from Sleepy Hollow”

Confetti Stage announces auditions for TALES FROM SLEEPY HOLLOW by Marty Egan and Stephen Henel, directed by Cory Haines.

Come gather around the community campfire for some American mythology,
ghost stories, and magical moments.  This very special and unique theater
experience will bring to life the classic Washington Irving stories of Rip
Van Winkle and the Legend of Sleepy Hollow in the beautiful outdoor gardens
of Ten Broeck Mansion in Albany, NY.

Audition Location:  Ten Broeck Mansion Gardens, 9 Ten Broeck Pl, Albany, NY

Audition Dates:  Monday May 8, and Tuesday May 9, 2017; 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. (Feel
free to attend either one, or both if you like.  *It will be fun!*  Please
be prepared to stay the entire time.)

Performance Dates: Aug. 4,5,6 and Aug. 10, 11, 12 and 13.

Auditioners should come dressed for light to moderate movement.  We will be
engaging in some movement and creative play theater games.  Sides will be
provided. A prepared monologue is not necessary, however, you may prepare a
short (less than 2 minutes) ghost story to share.

This production will also involve some interdisciplinary elements
(puppetry, traditional basic percussion/hand drumming, basic tribal fusion
dance) for some actors, so if you have any special skills (musical,
movement, juggling, flow arts, puppetry, magic or other), please come
prepared to share them.

Rehearsals will be evenings and some weekends, beginning soon after
auditions.  Please bring a list of any conflicts you may have.

Henry Hudson: (M, 30+) The spirit of the legendary explorer is passing
through the community on his way to a very special ritual ?celebration.?

Peter Dutcher: (M, 25+) Proprietor (with his wife)of the local public house
where everyone knows your name.

Martha Dutcher: (F, 25+)  Wife of Peter, and co-owner/ server in everyone’s
favorite gathering spot.

Baltus Van Tassel (M, 25-60)  Richest man in town, loving adoptive father
to the ?orphaned? Katrina.

Rip Van Winkle (M, 25-60)  Fun loving underachiever who literally sleeps
half his life away.

Dame Van Winkle (25-40)  Frustrated wife of Rip Van Winkle; trying to make
sure her daughter is taken care of.

Old Man of the Mountain (M/F 30+)  Bowling champion of the spirit world;
preparing for an ancient ritual of transformation.

White Sisters (F, 25+) Mischievous, flirtatious sister spirits at the
ancient ritual celebration.

Flint (M, 30+)  New proprietor of the old public house.  Severely lacking
in sense of humor.

Katrina (F, 20-30)  Natural daughter of the Van Winkle’s, adopted by
Baltus. Katrina cares greatly for her community and has the strength and
ingenuity to keep it safe.

Greta: (F, 18+)  Young student and advisor to Ichabod Crane in his efforts
to court Katrina.

Brom Bones (M 30-40) Returned war hero (maybe).  Not the sharpest tool in
the shed, but a beloved member of the community.

Ichabod Crane (M 30-40) A Connecticut Yankee with a plan to win the hand of
Katrina in marriage, or is to win her father’s money?  Who can tell,
really.  Easily startled by horse riding, sword wielding headless
revolutionary war soldiers.

Townspeople/Unruly Pupils/Spirits of the Hunt (M/F 18+)  The people who are
the heart and soul of the community.

Director’s note: At it’s core, this is a play about how a community bands
together through difficult times and finds a way to keep moving forward and
supporting one another when the world outside is in chaos. For this
production we will build a community based in the shared love of creative
play and a theater experience that will be shared by everyone who is part
of or attends the production!  I look forward to seeing and working with
