On Wednesday, August 9th, and Thursday, August 10th, Town Players of Pittsfield is holding auditions for a staged reading of Kindred Spirits by Rick Whelan. Auditions will be from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Whitney Center for the Arts, 42 Wendell Avenue in Pittsfield. The play will be directed by Dylan A. Turner.
Kindred Spirits tells the story of a local New England newspaper, The Moseby Spirit, struggling to stay relevant in a rapidly changing media landscape. Rose Dwyer, editor for the Spirit, must come to grips with her beloved newspaper being bought out by a large investment firm. Matters only get stranger when the ghost of Charlie Treadwell, the founder of The Moseby Spirit and Rose’s former lover, returns to the newsroom. This piece explores the struggles and successes of the reporters behind our news.
The cast consists of 3 men (ages 20-70s) and 5 women (ages 20-80s). No prior acting experience is required – just an open mind and a hunger to work!
This stages reading will be performed Sunday, August 27th at 2 PM at the Whitney Center for the Arts.
