Classics @ the Point Theatre Ensemble is casting roles for Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, adapted by Joseph Capone
A Doll’s House will be presented in November 2017 at Columbia-Greene Community College in Hudson, New York.
Looking for non-union actors with a large acting range and in love with Ibsen’s masterpiece and also for actors who have a passion for the classics with more of a contemporary vibe.
Nora Helmer, early 30’s. Very good with improvised movement and enjoys singing. A complex, pretty woman, who is great at pretending and getting what she wants. A true charmer, but underneath she longs for more than a charmed life.
Torvald Helmer, mid 40’s to mid 50’s. Enjoys flattering his lovely wife and truly believes she is his possession. Needs to guide her and protect her. At times, he is fully capable of being severe because of his dominant personality.
Nils Krogstad, mid 50’s to mid 60’s. Antagonist who wants to keep his job and will do what he has to make that happen. Filled with guilt because he once committed a minor crime. He holds an upper hand over Nora.
Dr Rank, mid 60’s to mid 70’s. Torvald’s best friend. Unconcerned by what people think about him. He has no problem admitting to his diseased nature. He possesses a stoic acceptance of his fate in life.
